Changing the Time Matters - Exchange Synchronization Frequency

Time Matters Exchange Synchronization can keep Contacts, Events and ToDo's automatically synchronized between Time Matters and Outlook/Exchange, which can automatically synchronize with smartphones like the Apple iPhones and Android smartphones.

In Time Matters 12 and later, the Exchange Synchronization interval or frequency is set by default at 60 seconds. With such a short update interval, the synchronization can slow down the server that is running Microsoft Exchange.

By setting the interval to 300 seconds (5 minutes) or 600 seconds (10 minutes), you can still get frequent updates and spare your server from working so hard.

To set the frequency of Time Matters Exchange Synchronization:

  1. On the server running Time Matters, open Windows Explorer and go to this folder:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\LexisNexis\Exchange Synchronization
  2. Open this file in a text editor program such as Notepad:
    LexisNexis.PM.Synchronization.Exchange.Service.exe.config
  3. Edit this line:
   <add key="SyncIntervalinSeconds" value="60" />
  1. Change the number 60 to a higher number of seconds, such as 300.
  2. Save the file.
